Looking into doing this in the next few months! Currently have a Grand Vitara but will be swapping for a Isuzu Trooper if all goes to plan.

Anyway, how many lessons do you recommend? Found a place that does whole days training with their vehicle & trailer at £150 a day. Test is £115. How many days or half days do you think?

I'm pretty sure I can pick it up quick & I'm very good at reversing etc (without sounding cocky) not likely to get frightened lol.

They do a days training with the test tacked on the end but depends how intense the training is I suppose & how quickly I get the hang of it.

Any nasty bits to the test?

Thanks!

I did a three day course with the test on the avo of the 3rd day. I think it would be a real struggle to do it in less. The hardest part is undoing loads of bad habits, which takes practise!

I did four days with four hours a day so 12 hours total. I am a confident driver too, was more about ironing out my bad habits than learning to tow as you pick up minors in your trailer test just like you did in your car test.

I failed for pulling out too quickly so more of an over confidence than under confidence thing even after all those lessons! You forget how slowly you have to do everything for test days.

IMHO it's an utterly ridiculous test but that is another story and I've done it now so don't have to worry about it again!

I think its mad too, my mum in her 50's with no confidence can legally tow and I can't, but there we go!

Thanks for the tips both. May see how many hours a full day is and see if they do it broken down anymore so over a few days. Reversing etc doesn't bother me I've always been very coordinated really but like you said which I forget about - bad habits will be a pain for me. Not that I can think of any off the top of my head but sure there's plenty :os
