We used to have a shogun and it was fine towing my horse, I now have a Nissan Terrano and that seems to cope a bit better -LWB 2.7 TD, but im not knocking the shogun as it did cope well!
Also-just to add our shogun was very thirsty!Spent alot on diesel but it was also very reliable so they have pro's and con's-sorry im probably not being very helpful here!
I have a 2.7 Tdi Maverick LWB and a 2.7 SWB Terrano.
Both tow and drive lovely. Even up a steep bank I can only tell I have Patches on board because of the ride a trailer gives as it goes over bumps in the road behind you.
Thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Such nice cars (I say car as they drive like a car not a tank) to drive and tow. Very underrated.
Hi, I have the shogun 2.8 TD and I usually travel one 17hh horse and it has no problems. Earlier this week, I took 2 x 17hh and it was fine, no problems at all, up and down steep hills easy. Don`t know about the 2.5. I am after another soon, updating (mine is M reg) and I think that I will be going for another Shogun.
I fill my tank about every 3 weeks. It takes approx £65 give or take a bit depending on when I fill up.
I get about 360-400 miles depending on whether I`ve towed. My gauge is a little off so I always use the mileometer to judge when to fill up.
