Towing with 2.2L Freelander 2

I know the title of this thread will probably send some people into uproar at the idea of towing with a freelander but I'm looking specifically at the newer version which to me looks pretty beefy?

If anyone has any experience (good or bad because I'm open to being proved wrong!) with specifically a 2.2L freelander 2 then I would really love to hear it!

I tow with an F2 auto and love it. I only take one horse though - it would be over the weight limit with two big horses (I suspect it wouldn't notice but it wouldn't be legal).
 
Sorry can't help, but I regularly tow with a Freelander 1 (diesel, manual) and love it. Brilliant to pull with but rubbish at pushing so reverse without a horse in. Also only have one horse on board, or two small ponies. Agree the F2 looks a bit beefier. I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

F2 is about 2500 GVW with a tow limit of 2000 and needs to be driven under B+E licence rules

Trailer weighing 900 with 2 horses each weighing 500 = 1900 so within its capability

Which variant ? Some need avoiding as they are not 4WD and its not obvious and to late when youve bought one. About 50% of FL2s do not have it.
 
Thanks everyone, I'm not sure on what model I was just looking a a freelander 2 in general but interesting to hear about 4WD. I'm leaning more towards an x-trail now haha
 
I tow with Freelander 2 td4 love . Was so disappointed that they stopped making them. I two a 14.1 connie in Ifor williams 505
