Hubby has decided to sell his mitsubishi L200 (as its costing a small fortune to run) and he likes a Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi. His friend who is selling it says it will tow a trailer with my 2 tb's in fine.

Ooh, I don't know about that! Check it's capacity, but I think it's questionable. I used to have one & would never consider it a towing vehicle. 1.9l is pretty under-powered TBH. My jeep 2.4 l will tow WessexClubmna+ 2 horses. It gets about same mpg as the galaxy did. Other issue is lack of 4WD. Don't need it every time you tow, but when you do, it's a godsend.

A Galaxy is just a tall Mondeo so I doubt it very much!

B+E licence rules
2 horse trailer likely to be around 900 empty
2 horses likely to be about 1000
Total weight around 1900 but probably nearer to 2000 in reality
that is very close and probably too close for comfort !!

We used to tow with a Galaxy 
I can't remember exactly which 1, but i know it was legal (close to the limit though). My mum regrets selling it as it was so economical too.
