Not on the towing but OH mechanic says they have alot of trouble with general electrics - suspension has been known to go wrong and alternator problems among some issues.

BUT as he says, you get good 'uns and bad 'uns, you just need deep pockets for a truck like the D3!

I have a 55 plate Disco which I have had for 5 years. Great tow vehicle but the repair bills are no joke. I have had a lot of suspension problems, steering, electrical probs - including the handbrake which is electrically operated. It was in the garage yesterday £1500 later! (Not a Landrover main dealer either - I find they cost at least double what my specialist 4x4 garage costs)

I have also had very bad service from one main Landrover dealer and for that reason and the mechanical problems I have had won't be having another disco when this one goes.

I think you get good ones and bad ones. I love mine, had it 4 years (its an 05 plate) and only extras I've paid for (over and above servicing) is tyres and something that had 'excessive play in it' which cost £120 or thereabouts ( cant remember what it was :o ). It is pricy to service, but it tows like a dream and is great to drive. I get over 30mpg on motorway driving and around 28mpg bumbling about, so not awful.

As has been said, you get good ones and bad ones. I tow with a 56 plate Disco and its super to tow with, so easy to drive too. Must be one of the good ones though, not had a problem in the 2.5 yrs we've had it either. Thirsty admittedly but does the job perfectly :)
