I used to tow with a Tiguan, found it OK for one but not really up to towing 2.
Very nice as an everyday car. I did trade upto a Toureg which was amazing tow car.
I do. I have an older (2010) 2l 4x4 auto one that will tow 2t and have a single horse trailer and a 630kg (ish) horse and its brilliant.
Its alse been fine to tow a 2 horse trailer and the horse, but i wouldnt want to put a 2nd in there even if it was 2 smaller horses. It would be a 2 pony/1 horse vehicle in my opinion.
However, i know some of them will do 2.5t and should be capable of being within the weight for 2 tb type horses, or horses on the shorter side. Like towing with mine. Love towing with an auto!
For every day driving its expensive on tax, pretty good on fuel for motorway cruising for a car of its type, awful for driving around town. Truely awful!
We have one: it's OH's company car, I think she got it in 2018 or 2019. Two wheel drive, don't remember the engine capacity, diesel, automatic gearbox, reasonable fuel economy.
I quite like it.
Motorised driver's seat with memory for two positions, heated front seats, Apple and Android compatibility for using the built-in screen to show phone apps (Waze, for example). Two USB sockets in the front and I think one in the back, 220V socket in the boot. Rear seats can be folded from inside the passenger area or from the boot.
360° camera coverage, very useful for parking, once you get used to it (OH still doesn't use the reversing camera).
I have a Tiguan and love it, both for normal driving and towing. Its a 2L, 4WD and diesel version, year 2016. It easily tows one full size horse in an IW double trailer, even on steep hills, you just go down the gears.
I've never tried it with 2 horses so can't comment on that.
As for normal driving, it is really really comfortable and I find fuel consumption is not excessive, pretty much what you would expect from a 2L vehicle. As Keith says, it has all round parking sensors which are really useful. Mine come on automatically when I go into reverse anyway. It also has an automatic handbrake facility, again very useful. I do find the boot space less roomy than expected for a VW but if you need more storage space and fold down the back seats, there is huge space then - presumably VW like to give rear seat passengers lots of seat and leg room!
My last car was a Hyundai Tucson, same specs as the VW Tiguan, but I hated it and it was useless for towing and for the first time ever in my driving years, I needed a clutch replacement - that says it all!
