Has anyone tried towing with a Mitsubishi Outlander? I am thinking of buying one as my first foray into the 4x4 world, as it is getting great reviews, drives nice and on paper does what I need. It can officially tow 2 tonnes (which is pretty much what I was looking for) but I just wondered if anyone has tried one and can confirm if it is powerful enough to pull Ok. Plan is to tow an Ivor Williams 510 and one 16hh horse (total weight about 1.7 tonnes)

Any info re other peoples experience gratefuly received!

In all honesty I wouldn't consider it. By the time you've loaded car with tack, passengers etc your going to be very close to the limit. I'm selling my lorry and going back to a HB510 and 16.2 horse and I'm not looking at anything with less than a 2.5 towing plate. My friend borrowed my HB510 to tow with her Nissan trail which has the same towing capacity as th Outlander and found it didn't have the weight to cleanly (and safely in her opinion) stop the trailer - and that was empty.
