Does anyone tow with a Skoda Karoq?

I'm looking at getting a Skoda Karoq, 2L, 4x4, petrol which has a max towing weight of 2,000kg to tow a single horsebox (weighing 750kg) and a horse weighing 600kg.

Just wondered how it performs as a towing car.

We now tow with one! It tows beautifully! Ours is the 2L diesel but not 4x4

We used to tow with a Yeti and the Karoq is so much better.

I tow a 500kg trailer with 600-700kg weight in it. It honestly didn’t notice it and was still doing 40+mpg despite some pretty hefty hills.

Me! Although I think mine has 200kg more capacity than yours.
And I towed with an Octavia before this which I loved but was far too low to the ground for my trailer.

860kg box + 600Kg horse.
Very firmly can only do the one horse - even though on ‘paper’ I have room for another, I don’t think it’s got the guts on the steeper hills. But that’s fine for me as my lad travels without a partition so I can only take one!

I enjoy towing with it, the first time I towed 200 miles across the country for camp! And it was very easy, coped with everything.

Out of curiosity, why didn't you like towing with a Yeti?

I occasionally threaten to buy a trailer, and the Yeti is best towing car we have. OH's Outlander PHEV can only tow 1600kg, despite being a big, heavy car. Bloody useless hybrids. The Yeti is a 4x4 diesel, so it's got like 2100kg of towing capacity.

There was nothing inherently wrong with the yeti its just the karoq has more guts on hills.
Our Yeti was a 4x4 diesel but the model only had 1800kg tow weight so we were often right on the edge of what it could tow.
It just lacked a little in the power but it never put me in a position where it felt unsafe.

I’m just in the process of buying a Karoq so I can tow with it. It does get good reviews for towing. I’m having a tow bar added after purchase. Is a fitted or detachable tow bar best? Any thoughts thanks

We had a fixed one fitted on the advice of our mechanic.

Main thing being if you are towing in crap weather do you really want to be scrabbling around on your knees to attache the tow hitch before you can hitch up your trailer.
