Toytown - is this the true story?!

aw but we all now know he cost £24k as Zara admitted it herself

I agree with Weezy, Meryl Winters onwards is true (don't know what she paid for him though) and the whole Mark spotting him and them paying £23,000 is true as Zara has now confirmed it but before that who knows.

I had to laugh that the dealer said she didn't want to shout her involvement from the rooftops.........er wha are you doing talking to the papers then.

I must say i'm suprised that more people haven't claimed their fame through TT due to his very hazy past (to the public at least - the Phillips may know his whole history but it makes for better marketing for him to have a hazy past) .

Wow even as a Novice he must have been pretty special to cough up that kind of money for a horse who had done a few novices.

Isn't Carol Nicoll the dealer by Gatwick??

I was gonna buy a horse from her but felt he was too small in the end. He was lovely though.

Some people I know have just paid £15K for a SJ'er which has managed 3 BN wins and a few clears in Fox - all for their 17 year old daughter who has come off a 14.2 unaff pony....money makes the whole thing mad in my opinion. They have also got a new lorry on order as the new purchase 'doesn't do a trailer'..... Not really sour grapes but it just makes me wonder as the perception of 'bought success' is pretty general now.

So much for the 'bought him for peanuts out of the pony club network' story then.

I wonder what they consider to be a lot of money for a Novice eventer?

At the time that they bought him he was not cheap, £23,000 is hardly a bargain for a Novice eventer, however if you put it into the context of today (what they have made of him since getting him), then yes he has ended up being a bargain horse - he is worth over half a million whch is about 25 times more than what they paid for him!!
When Zara says he was a bargain I think this is what she means - she doesn't mean cheap as in £4000 or something!!!!!!!
The Phillips themselves tend to talk more about the fact that they got him with relatively few miles on the clock and Zara has brought him on since (which is a great achievement) than how much he actually cost - that bit is more the press speculating.
