Trace Clip-Do I need a neck cover..?

Hiya
I'm hopefully going to get Murphy clipped later on this week. Im going with a trace clip as he's living out and is just coming back into work.
Do I need to have a neck cover for him with the trace clip or will he be OK with just an under rug for warmth? I've seen a good cheap neck cover but my rugs dont have D rings for it so was just wondering if it was really neccessary before I shell out!! I've never had a clipped horse before so its all new to me!

my boy is doing fine with just his standard rug and a trace, he has been full clipped previously with the same rug

(if he had been with me with a full clip id have a combo rug!) but trace i should think it's fine until it gets really really cold

He looks well built - he should be fine. IMO it's only the fine ones that need neck covers with a trace clip.

I would say he will be fine. My boy is out with a standard neck rug and has a high trace clip. Just make sure your rug is nice and cosy.
