tracing horses pasts?

my horse came from Ireland- and thats all i know about him. he isnt a registered breed, but i really want to find out more about him. i dont even know his real age for sure! is there any way you can find out about horses pasts? i know he has had his name since he was born. he was sold to us by dealers who didnt know much about him either. any help?

I have often thought about doing this - for some reason I have held back incase there is something I don't want to hear?? - but might give this website a go. Has anyone had any experience of this - good or bad??
