Hi,

I'm trying to find out about my mare's history.

She is has been reported decessed to Whetherbys, NED, etc, but is alive.

I have had her markings and mircochip checked by two different vets and they have confirmed that she is the horse which her passport describes.

What we know so far:

She was born in 2002

She raced in Ireland (flat and over fences) from 21st July 2008 to 17th October 2009, details:
http://www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=710245

We have spoken to her breeder who said she was sent to England to be sold, but the line was very bad so we're not too sure on this.

She was registered as decessed by Whetherbys in December 2009.

We bought her from a dealer in England in Jan 2010.

That's all so far. If anyone can think of any ideas please say, I really need to know what has gone on here.

Thank you.

Did you have her vetted when you bought her? I know it sounds awful but is it possible that she was sent to be put down and sold on by an unscrupulous dealer instead? It has happened before.

Have you rung up weatherbys to ask them why the horse is registered as deceased and who told them the horse had died?
Weatherbys make so many mistakes on that one:confused:

She passed a 2* vetting (plus bloods) when I bought her in Jan, then she passed a 5* vetting in June. She is sound and healthy. She has also had her back done (buy a physio and a chiro) and her teeth done.

I have rung her trainer (also her breeder), as said above, but the line was bad so am unsure what he actaully said.

Yes I have been in contact with Whetherbys. They have found my horse on their database, and know who registered her as decessed. However they cannot tell me as it would be a breach of personal rights (or something) if they did. All they could say is that she was registered as decessed in December 2009.

Sounds like an insurance job if you ask me.....I think Weatherbys should ask for the passports on the horses that have been registered deceased.

But i think someone has just claimed death of horse then sold her on, to sets of money.

It might be worth ringing up your insurance company as most share a datapool and the name of you mare won't have changed. I would also ring because if anything happened and you did need to claim, it could cause problems if their DB shows there has already been a claim made!
