I keep seeing a lot of dealers advertising for horses. Quite often they put 'trade prices' at the bottom of the add. Just wondered what sort of price trade prices they would pay for an average riding club horse. I'm not in the market for a horse at the moment just curious to know how much cheaper a dealer can get them. Appreciate a lot of it depends on the horse and how many quirks it has.

One of the dealers I've seen put this on offered a friend less than £400 for a green riding 7yr old whos been shown and done well. Another offered less than £650 for a 14.2 quiet stocky hunter type

So you would expect these types of dealers to end up with horses that no one else can sell and the owner has got desperate?

I would be thinking that’s bottom end dealers....I buy and sell a few and think nothing of giving several thousands for a smart green 14.2hh that has a good straightforward temperament and some ability that can be produced on.
