Hi. I have been asked by a client to make a 4 fold stock - now I know the dimensions but a bit confused about the folds! (normally only make the shaped to tie versions). Do I press them in or leave that to my customer? And if I press them in do they go the whole way down the length of the stock or just for the neck piece? Think it looks a bit weird if it goes the whole length but have seen photos of it like this. Thanks for your advise!!:)

Soupdragon...not a clue about four fold stocks (what's the difference as I can't tell from a photo) BUT if you make stocks do you do the pretty ones with matching scrunchies per chance? (for eventing, not hunting before anyone shoots me for not being traditional!)

I have a 4 fold one, and it is just a perfectly rectangular piece of fabric with each side folded in to the middle down the full length of the stock. It's lovely but really thick and I have blunted one tie pin trying to pin it down! It's my cold weather tie.

I always wore a four fold , but mine were made of silk, they were simply an oblong shape, possibly about a metre long by about a half wide, the four fold effect was created when the stock was ironed, they were extremely comfortable, and never rubbed. I hope this is of some help.

I wear a four fold stock and they are made of silk ( a couple are about 50 years old) as said rectangular with outer edges folded into the centre and then folded again, pressed full length.
