Tragically Spud one of the two horses rescued from Stamford has been pts at his retirement place -Bransby Home of Rest for Horses
Our thoughts are with all involved and obviously with his best friend Carrot.

Whilst we always intended for the proceeds from Hovis' Diary to look after Carrot and Spud we hope that you will still wish to support the book to provide for Carrot and for the other residents of Bransby who have a chance at life again after, in some cases, horrific neglect.

Aww what a shame but at least he spent the last year of his life well looked after. The people involved in the case should be proud of themselves.

RIP spud, pleased he got to have a better time than he was when we first saw him though :).

certainly will still be supporting HFD for Carrot and the other residents.

awww bless, well, he was an old boy and at least he had a really lovely time being totally pampered, didn't die of starvation in that horrible field. i hope Carrot has a new friend and lots of fuss to help with his bereavement.

RIP Spud, at least he had a nice life towards the end and was not left in a field to suffer, can you imagine what he would have gone through if he had not been rescued?

That's such sad news but, as others have said, thank goodness (and HHO!) that his last days were not filled with suffering as they so easily could have been.

Will, of course, still be buying the diary to fund all the other horses!

RIP Spud :(

I take huge comfort from knowing that he has spent the last 20 months being loved and cared for and will not have suffered I'm anyway.

As for Carrot that little minx has lots of friends and makes sure he gets plenty of attention!:D he has to be the first one fed....;):D

Hovis's mum - have spoken to local saddlery they will stock your book:D

Long live Carrot and long may Bransby's good work for others like them continue:)

Oh no.My condolences to Bransby and their staff and a thank you for coming to their rescue when they needed it most.Rest in peace Spud you were a fighter to the end.Big hugs to Carrot.

RIP Spuddy!
Looking on the bright side-how loved were those chaps in the last year!
How many other horses were saved thanks to these guys? I remember that shortly after the post people started going straight to WHW and BHS when they saw others needing help. Up until that post I still would have gone via RSPCA but thanks to that day I now know better.

Just an add on has anyone contacted the people who started this, I'm sorry I can't remember the chaps name or that of his girlfriend.
Two non horsey people with the presence of mind to find us horrible lot and then tried to do everything we asked of them to save Carrot and Spud.

I think it would be better that they were told personally rather than find out via such means as google.

Oh....I've ordered my copy!

Whoopsi I have left a message at what was their house asking them to call - hopefully they are still there. They did go up to Bransby and see the boys:)

Aww well done!
I just thought that after everything they did...getting photo's, trying to feed them, waiting for the cavalary to arrive that they deserved to be be told at the very least by phone.
