Tragic...

Yes, poor girl, and the poor family too. You are never free of anorexia and the damage it does is often more than what you can see. My lovely neighbours opposite are currently visiting their 17 year old daughter in hospital at the moment. Its her second admission having got alot better in the intervening period and this time she had to go in via a section. She is a pretty, intelligent girl who is a talented artist and actually wants to be a doctor but currently thinks that the water in the taps might have fat in. Even worse, the other girls on the ward actually compete to see who is the thinnest, and if a new person comes in who is in an even worse state they get really jealous. The human mind can be a very sad and twisted thing sometimes.

My neighbour lost her daughter who was in her 30s and had been battling anorexia for half her life. She'd feel guilty if she ate more than a satsuma. She was in and out of all the specialist clinics, would get better and then go downhill again. Eventually she was sent home to die, and did so shortly after. Her heart just gave out on her. She'd ridden at the Pony Club championships (my mum thinks she won) and was immensely talented.

In less than twenty years, my neighbour had buried her husband, son and daughter.
