Can anyone help? I've got two weeks to find out about it before the qualification runs out.

Many thanks

Hi,

The finals for this year have just been held and I went as groom for my friend. The competition is brilliant but really expensive because in addition to class fees (about £40 per class), grounds maintenance, first aid etc you also have to stable for two nights.

The competition runs over two days with riders being ramdomly divided into about four classes of 30 riders in each. The top 9 or 10 placings from each class are put into the final for the following day - the remainder go into consolation classes and compete against each other.

You sound like you are at the first stage for next year and the first thing you have to do is sent off the registration fee (£10 per class I believe) along with two SAE's. The £10 regsiters you for entry in the second round and one of the SAE's will be used to send you a schedule with details of were these are held.

You then pay and compete to ride in the second round and the top placings go through to the finals at Stoneleigh next year.

Hope that helps.

Trailblazers is a very busy event. We went to watch this year (we were competing at the RC HT champs very nearby held the same weekend!). It did seem pretty manic, people parked pretty much anywhere and squeezed in. The stables put me right off! They were small, dingy very thin wooded concuctions (my welshie would have gone straight through those doors!). Im only comparing again the rc champs though where we had lovely big, bright stables and a massive field to park in.....!

We were watching the SJ which seemed to go on til all hours (as it did last year too). Dont know about the dressage.

I assume you've qualified for the second round rather the finals (since they've only just been held) so you need to be I think in the top 4 to qualify for the champs. Then you have to send off ANOTHER tenner to register for the champs. It is very expensive when I looked into it a few years ago.

Good luck if you do go though!

As the finals have just happended you will have qualified for the 2nd rounds. Send off you form with the tenner and then you will get sent a trailblazers membership card. The 2nd rounds won't be until about march next year so plenty of time to practise. Closer to then you will be sent schedules for these. Once you go to the 2nd rounds you then qualify for the finals if you are placed 1st-4th maybe 5th for dressage.
You don't have to pay another tenner to go to the finals, but you will have a huge entry fee for the finals. This year it cost me well my mum £160 odd for stabling, entry fees, maitainence (sp) and first aid.

But i found it extremly enjoyable and the stables were sufficient for 2 nights stabling, my mare who can kick stables was very well behaved. There was plenty of room to walk the horses round the grounds.

Def send of the form and the tenner, it is definately worth a shot and I will be trying to qualify again this year for the SJ and try for the dressage.

Good luck and well done
