All you people who paid for second round won't be happy with this

I qualified with Ensign for the second round but wasnt able to make it. Gutted but I thought, oh, well there will be next year.

Anyway, my friend off the yard did go and she qualified for the final. She got a letter last week saying this.

Not a quote, but the gist.

They werent sure how many people they would have in the finals with it being its first year, so they have decided to give wild card qualifiers that you can either use on another horse of yours or give to a friend.

She gave it to me and I was really thrilled, until she gave me the form tonight and for 1 class, this is how it adds up.

Entry fee £46
First Aid £10
Stoneleigh park maintenance charge for stables £19! ( this is despite it saying on their website that they are using temp stables )
Stable for 2 nights £82
Parking fee (???!!! ) £12!!

So the total just to enter 1 class is £169!!!

Needless to say I won't be going!!!

I can appreciate that the maintenance and stabling charges may be out of their control but I really cannot understand how they can justify a £46 per class entry fee

There is no mention of prize money, just rosettes and a sash and trophy to the champion. I really can't understand it

I also really feel for people who spent loads of money on qualifying cards and class entries for the second/first rounds, only to discover they needn't have bothered. Just find a friend with a wild card to pass on to you and you go straight to the finals

I would put my bottom dollar on the fact that they are giving out the wild cards as they have very low entries for the finals due to the enormous cost

Its crazy the money really isn't it. Im going - I've been through a lot with my horse and my Mums agreed to pay as it'll be my first away show. The cost is really very high though

Someone posted about this a few weeks ago with regard to the TB dressage.
I also qualifield for the Elementary dressage & like you was shocked at the cost. Especially when you add on bedding (prob another £20) and diseal to get there. I would also have had to take 3 days off work as dressage is mid week.
All for 2 dressage tests.

Like you.... I've sadly decided not to go.

So disappointing, I was looking forward to this being an opportunity for novice numpty me to get somewhere in showing. I was going to give it a go next year dependent on how it went this year - seems it's not really worth it.

yep its expensive, but part of the reason is because they moved it to Stoneleigh. They would be better using another location.

We are doing it this year because my 8 year old daughter managed to qualify her miniature shetland and has never had the chance to go to a "biggie" other than MHOYS last year.

Its expensive but we are lucky because stabling for a miniature is in the back of the lorry, I do however have an irish draft that qualified too.....he wont quite fit! - it costs a bomb yes, but you go for the experience and take your chance. They are definately NOT giving out wildcards...this I already checked.

We will do it this year because daughter would be gutted not to and its a nice holiday for us, but wont be doing it next year. Isnt it about time some people actually wrote direct to trailblazers?

Sadly they will always have entries because people want to do the finals!!

That is way too much.

I am taking Stinky to the BSPA WCC champs, stabling for 3 days is £50 and if you don't clear the stable another £10.

Class fees from £15 - £23 and their rosettes are amazing. I took my tent and had three lovely days camping for free and no parking charge. It was a Keysoe which I personally like as a venue.

Personally I would not be going at that price - maybe if enough people vote with their feet they will review things.

We qualified 2 SJ classes last year and we worked it out to do them both and also the warm up classes and all the add on costs of it was going to cost us £450 That was without our fuel to get there and our accommodation.
We affiliated BSJA instead.
I thought it was supposed to be the amateurs choice for people who didnt want the expense of affiliating - NOT
Apparently UK Riders is better, their fees are very reasonable.

I am really excited about the Trailblazers Showing Finals - my 1st ever national Championships - 2 days of Competition with top class judges!! the £46 enters you for both days so it is only £23 per class, and I did not have to pay to join or register my pony.

Every thing seems to cost so much nowadays but to go a National championships and compete at a venue such as Stoneleigh - wow - can't wait! Would hate to think how many levies I have paid over the years and never got near qualifying for a National Championships (sorry have to keep saying that!) any way when I did affiliated the professionals always won! I only had to pay my £12 once I had qualified not before. All my family is coming too as there is no charge for them or the tent so it will be a holiday - busy planning what I need to take now

Hi zoeshiloh just soooo excited and looking forward to it! - I am chuffed for my boy - so proud of him!!! I suppose also having the schedule means I know what it costs - been on your website link you added to your message - your lovely horses are definitely out of my boy's league! as you are a professional was not expecting to find people like you interested in Trailblazers, it looks like you do really well with them - congratulations - just proud of my boy's achievements!

I dont want to cause an argument but I am sat here with one in my hand!!!!!!

Send you a picture if you want!

Trailblazers IS a rip off, always has been. I qualified for the finals years ago when they just started out and laughed when I saw how much it'd cost to do the SJ! Ive been twice to spectate in an evening when Ive been down at Offchurch (like 15 mins drive away!) for the RC horse trial champs and TBH I MUCH prefer the RC champs! Totally different world - lovely stables, lovely environment etc. Trailblazers was horrid.

I agree it very expensive!! and I wont be going with my 10 yr old daughter who qualified her pony- such a shame, as they both worked so hard, makes a mockery of the whole idea behind Trailblazers.

Ps Wild cards are true- recieved 1 yesterday.

Good Luck to all who go.

I'd rather go to FOC or perhaps Interclub both are aimed at RC ponies they have huge rosettes, sashes, evening preformances and are much much cheaper then trailblaizers.
i'm affiliated to 2 societies and it has cost much less then that to get to thier champs. With the vhs im through to regionals and have spent the grand total of £46. and for the NCPA ive paid £20 membership and the classes are £11.
