Trailer Advice Please.... :-)

I am just about to purchase my first trailer parents had them when I had ponies and as I progressed to horses we moved to lorries, but now I'm a growed up ;-) and I'm going it alone, my budget doesn't stretch to a lorry, so a trailer it is and I'm in need of guidance......
I have decided upon an Ifor Williams, as they seem the most reliable, value for money etc..... I intend mainly to just travel my WB, 16.3hh and will be towing with an L200, which IW should I be looking at some sites say 505 will be fine, others 510. Too much googling has left me confuzzled quite frankly!
I currently do not have my trailer entitlement on my license, OH does, is horsey and a sensible driver so will be chauffeur for as long as he can stand! :-D

Depends how long horsey is...my 15.1 cob had to be squeezed into our 505, but he is longish in the back. He now fits comfortably into a 506 due to the extra few inches you can move the breast and tail bars out too on the new design but any bigger and it would have had to be a 511. Do you know anyone with a 505 you could try yours in?
 
The 505/506 is for horses up to 16.2 so personally I would go for a 510/511 it's not just the length but headroom needed.
 
Are with others, you will be better off with a 510/511.

Mine are all under 16.2 so a 505 suits us down to the ground.

You can possibly drive as well .............

SUPERVISING A B+E LEARNER
In April 2010 new rules were introduced for those supervising certain learner drivers but they only affected those supervising VOCATIONAL categories such as C1 C1+E D1 & D1+E where the supervising driver had those categories given to them for free when they passed a pre 1997 car test.
They do not affect those with a pre 1997 B+E licence who wish to supervise a B+E learner.
All B licence holders have B+E provisional on the paper part of their licence and can tow an empty or loaded trailer on all roads including motorways.
The usual rules apply when a learner is driving -
The supervising driver must be aged over 21
The supervising driver must have held a B+E licence for at least 3 years
L plates must be fitted to the front of the vehicle and the rear of the trailer
Correct insurance for a B+E learner
 
I've just bought at 511. I only have a 15.2 but he's chunky and if I take into account that I'd probably be towing 2 of them of similar size I thought the more room the better!!

You can still tow with L plates on as long as there is someone in the vehicle with you with the B&E licence or the old licence...
