Trailer back bar height?

I have removed the central partition from my double trailer as i want to travel my horse on her own, cross tied, with plenty of room. I've got a full width breast bar and the safe height level for that is obvious. But i'm not sure about the back bar.
Should it be level with the most sticking out part of her rump (like you measure a horse rug)? or just below that? What is the safest so that she can't reverse out, if the ramp is still down (thinking ahead just in case)?
 
I would worry about the halfway between dock and hock as a horse could 'sit' back on it and get into trouble. It needs to be at the height where the horse can't easily push it upwards from the joint in the rump where it curves up to the bum
 
Its really hard to describe but I think GB is closer that Leo. It needs to be low enough so the horse can perch on it a little - but not so low there is any risk that they might bring full weight to bear. As the bum curves upward you want to be a bit below that.

But removing the central partition from your trailer doesn't alter where the bar attachments are. Whether the bar is half length with a partition and another half bar or full length it will still use the attachments put there by the manufacturer. I would put your back bar exactly where you had it when you had a partition in. That should not be too far wrong! (And don't leave the rear ramp open when loaded - recepie for trouble..)
 
It should be fitted where you'd want breeching to sit on a driving harness. Not so low as they can sit ON it, but low enough that they can't possibly get their rump under, as that really does cause a panic.
 
Id have thought breeching height would be too low. I watch mine sit into the breeching to brake the carriage all the time. Its at that height to encourage them to sit into it. I'd want it slightly higher up.

I'm going to check mine now as I've not actually use it with the current pony yet and being a whopping 14.1hh it will be interesting to see where it sits!

As Shay says, the height choices are limited to where the fixings are so I can't put the bar very low but I see what you mean about her not being able to get under it, as that would indeed cause a panic. I didn't really have to think about this when the partition was in, as her range of movement was limited but having the whole width of the trailer now, she could just crouch more easily or bunny hop a bit backwards!
Maybe I'm overthinking things. But in any case, at some shows where we need to park tightly beside each other and I can't let the front ramp down, I need to be able to also let down the back ramp for unloading so I want her to not be able to even consider reversing out while I'm doing that for my own safety!
Based on your comments, I think I'll try for just below the sticky out bit of the rump, so she can rest a little but it's low enough that she can't back under it.
 
This is a timely thread as I have just bought an ifor 403 single horse. No issues with all the fixtures and fittings for the bigger ponies, but will also be taking out my neices 13hh pony sometimes and its a really roomy trailer.

How would be the best way to travel him in it? Even the tie rings are really high and dont want to add a load of extra bits to it if there is another way?
 
I do exactly this OP, My horse is 14.3 and the back bar goes on the lowest fitting, nearest to the ramp end. I had a full width back and front bar made up using IW wittings, although my trailer is a Wessex Clubman. I cross tie but fairly loosely, he tends to stand diagonally pointing towards the middle of the road.
