Hey Guys, I need some honest and personal opinions here please re trailer choice. I have a Batesons Derby at the moment, have had an Equi Ttrek trailer (11 years ago) and an Ifor Williams HB505. I am looking at selling my Batesons, but have had a look through at some of the trailers and there is such a choice. I was trying to decide between an Ifor Williams HB506 and getting a cover to keep it clean and to prevent the panels from rotting as it will be living out or a Cheval Liberte, a Fautras Provan or a Nugent. Are the Cheval Liberty and Fautras Provan aluminium sides which don't rot when exposed to the elements?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi,

I have a Fautras Provan Club. An excellent trailer which is as robust as they come. Mine has lived on our driveway for the last 3 years and is fully rot proof. The only thing I would say is don't get a white one as they show the water marks from the rain.

I'd definitely recommend the trailer to anyone. :)

I assume you have a B+E licence which gives you a big choice

What is the towing capacity of the vehicle ?

What weight do you need to put into the trailer ?

I am towing with Ford Ranger and I have HGV1 and HGV2 (I think it is now C+E) so weight is no problem, I really wanted a trailer which doesn't have plywood inside the inner and outer coating which is going to rot as rain gets in the crevices.

I've got a cheval liberte optimax 4 which has the alu sides. I looked at Fautras and previously owned a 511 and my CL is a hundred miles ahead of the rest imo. Built quality is excellent. The rubber mat started lifting and CL came over from France themselves to replace it. It's in 3 parts but they replaced the entire floor.

Just wondering whether to change it or keep it really and asking opinions on what else is out there. It is a brilliant trailer and tows really well.

I was really impressed with the build quality of the Nugent. When I upgrade, that what I will be having
