Right have finally decided on an IW510 - prefer this to the 511 having tried both out very recently.

I would like one that is newish - couple of years old as I am rubbish with mechanical things so dont want anything falling apart as soon as I hitch it up.

Right, where can I find one? There seem to be a lot of 505s about, but really need a 510 ... am willing to travel a reasonable distance, but nothing too extreme.

Colourwise dont care - would prefer not black or silver as these seem to heat up a bit but not too bothered if the trailer is in very good condition.

Any advice etc on where to look? Am keeping an eye on Horsequest/horsemart but would go to a dealer if anyone can recommend? PM if you prefer!

thanks

the 501's are perfect i have had 3 of them over the years! i got my last one from blendworth in hampshire as an ex test model so saved myself some money so worth giving them a call and asking if they have any ex display/ex hire ones.

510s are in great demand at the moment & hold their price, assuming you can actually find one for sale. I'm led to believe it's because they're so much better than the new replacement that people would rather have a pre owned 510 than the new one.

Just out of interest how much are the 510's going for at the mo? Have been pondering selling mine for a while but I'm not sure.

A good 2nd hand 510 is like hen's teeth to find. I ended up buying a new one a couple of years ago as I couldn't find a 2nd hand one.

Just keep an eye out at all the usual places - tack shops, equestrian centres, riding club noticeboards etc. Spread the word amongst your contacts as a lot of trailers never get advertised as somebody snaps them up before it gets to the advertising stage. a lot of the horse sale websites have trailer/horsebox sections.

It may be worth trying some dealers, it's a very long shot as the 511 has been out for a while but they may have a 510 left and it may be a bit cheaper as it's the older model. Worth a phonecall at least?

I have three Ifors and bought two of them on Ebay !! Well, found them on Ebay and went and viewed and made an offer and paid cash there and then for thee person to sell off Ebay (they are normally happy to as quite often they have don't get bids til the last minute and it stops paying the commission.

I bought my second 510 (the do-as-ya-likeys stole the first one, think it was last spring and I got it for £2650 inc wheel lock, it was 4-5 years old at the time and had all the paperwork, service history, proof of ownership etc. At the time was expecting to pay upto £2900.....not sure what they go for now, good luck! Also, try adtrader.co.uk

CLY - yes am also looking on ebay but nothing so far that is close enough to look at.

I only made up my mind about a week ago and have only been looking for a few days. Thought there would be more available second hand?

If I dont find a good 510 I will look at getting a 511 as they seem to have ironed out all of the problems. I just dont like the design so much - its all a bit boxy for me but I suppose it doesnt matter as long as it is reliable and tows well.

annagain - I have made a few enquiries at some local dealers, but nothing in at the moment (all 505s!!!) but havent been looking long. Guess everyone is still out using their trailers as well - should probably wait until September time when people seem to give up a lot/go to Uni etc.

hellspells - let me know if you want to sell your 510!

Am keeping an eye out on ebay and will have a look at the pc website - thanks for the suggestions Chunkie!
