Hi all

So my Dad bless him has had my Sinclair trailer in and made him look absolutely amazing - new floors, new rubber, kick boards straightened out, side boards smartened up, hammerited all metal sections of exterior and removed all moss and green patches/rust. It looks AMAZING.

Now i'm thinking of just repainting the outside of it - the roof is white - this will stay that way and the metal sections are all black.

At the moment, the trailer is like an airforce blue - it's lovely, but I'd like to lighten it up a little just to make sure the trailer stays cool inside.

What colour would would you go go this? I'm thinking like a light, brown based grey (to keep warmth in the colour - I'm not a fan of blue based greys) or a nice rich cream.

I'm thinking this would look nice with the black hammerite...

So I need a poll really - grey or cream?

Fence sitter here.

If grey I would be thinking a sort of Art Deco oyster grey perhaps, elegant but possibly a little too elegant? It's a trailer not a Hispano-Suiza after all :)

Cream probably safer but you don't want it too rich, keep south of clotted cream if that makes sense. Or disregard that and go nearly caramel?

Colour choices are HELL. But fun.

May be worth going to the paint factors and flipping through their colour chips?

hehe I know - I've been so excited to get it back to paint it, but now it's literally all I can think about! I was going to play safe and go with a nice navy, but I'm too concerned with how warm it might get inside.

Also thinking about pale olive green - but not sure that would go with the black.

I feel cream and black is super classy... but I also want it to keep it's 'cute' retro charm!

You could always ask yr father to teach you how to prep and paint and then you could have a new colour each season :)

Also suggest you paint or better powder coat the wheels in black.

Or perhaps a slightly lighter shade of cream if you go cream. I may be getting carried away here.

ohh true!!

Powder coat the wheels? what does that mean?

Powder coating is a variation on painting. They strip back the wheel, spray a powder on and then put it in an oven so it turns super glossy and tough. Plenty of places do it, just Google.

Of course, if you accept the wisdom of the late Alan Clark, and he did know an awful lot about vehicles even if his politics were dodgy, the wheel nuts and indeed every visible and painted nut and bolt should be finished in a very very slightly lighter shade. Just to show attention to detail. OK, this may be getting (very) silly....

Same colour as the car. My friend has a dark red range rover and a dark red ifor 511 (I think) and they look really smart matching ... and this is from someone who dislikes matchy matchy, lol!

Ah you see I do agree with this in most cases, but I'm conscious of the horses getting too hot inside a black trailer - plus it'd loose it's retro charm being black and sleek!

This was how it looked before Dad began sprucing it up and current colour -

Pale duck egg blue and cream. Thats the colour they originally were and it looks really nice.

This one was the dark green originally. I like the duck egg and cream though - although that colour seems to bleach in the sun looking at others that colour.

Also It'd be hard now with the black hammerrite on all the metal to make it cream.

I've collected the trailer from my Dad - it looks amazing, the inside looks so new and shiny! I've done one coat of gold on the horse and writing on the door but it's dried a more bronzy colour - I don't mind as it matches my Chestnut :D

I plan to paint the top half of the door blue to match the body and re-paint the roof white.

I'll get some photos tonight - in the excitement of going to get it, I left my phone at home yesterday!
