i ordered a new Ifor Williams HB403 in black. This is the single model. I went with this one because i only ever transport my 1 horse (15hh) , and the max weight of the trailer is well within my vehicle's 2 tonnes capabilities. Also, new it is costing me £3100, 2nd hand ones are nigh on impossible to find, but a 2nd hand 505 (double) -which i would have to have derated to be able to tow seemed to be still about £2800 for a newish one. So not much difference - i thought id be as well getting brand new.

I waited.... and waited.... and waited.... to be told it will be at least another 10 weeks from now due to production problems.

Fabby local trailer centre has loaned me a 2nd hand 505 silver classic they had until my 403 arrives, they had the plate derated for me. Thing is, theyve said if I just want to keep this one, i can have it for £2750. Its 3 years old, has had moderate use, but looks brand new. I really like it, but I dont know if I should wait for the new one now or not....

arrggghhh -what to do?!?

I would wait for the new one, 3 years old and little use can cause rusting problems inside brakedrums and coupling damper plus wheel bearings. Letting you have this one 3 hundred cheaper is a good deal for the dealer as they will have the new demo trailer.

hmmm - it was this kind of thing that worried me. but is has had 'moderate' use apparantly, and the trailer centre has fully serviced it. Is there anyway the things you mentioned can be checked otherwise?

Re: having loads of room for tack etc... do you really though? As wont anything I put in the other half of the box move about and risk going under the partition during travel?
thanks
