I read something on here recently where someone said they wouldn't travel a horse in a trailer with less than 2 layers of flooring.

My trailer floor only has one layer. Would you deem this as being unsafe?

I'm wondering this myself! To make mine safer, I've added two strips of aluminium chequerplate (2ft wide, 3mm thick) where the hooves go.

Personally, I have a soft spot for old fashioned single layer hardwood floors, which visibly rot before they fail. Fair warning, which you don't get with modern alloy floors.

Yes, I prefer a single layer floor- multiple layers trap moisture between layers and rot faster and it is not always visible. Mine has a single layer hardwood plank floor with thick rubber matting - take the matting up when not in use.
