TRAILER FOR 18HH HORSE?

I'm thinking of purchasing a trailer for my 18hh horse, someone said a Rice Beaufort 60 might do, does anyone have any experience of them and how much might a second hand one cost??

Its only about the same size as an Ifor 510. Its actually 1" lower and narrower. It is longer though.

I like Rice trailers but I think you will find it hard to get one second hand.

If your horse will fit in this is should go into a 510 which are much more readily available second hand.

I would think you would pay £2000 upwards for a good 510. No idea of the price for a Rice 60, never seen one second hand.

Rice trailers are often only cheap because some of them are 30 years old, new they cost more than the Ifor, so I expect a late model would be expensive.

I have a Pegasus beta which is huge internally and my 17.2 looks small they are not cheap unless you can get one off eBay

I have a Richardson Supreme Ultra and it takes two 17.3h with ease and room to spare ...

My lad was 18.1 but had a low set on neck so didn't have a very high head carriage. He fitted in without a shoe horn into a IW510 and travelled well in it.

My horse is 18hh and fits with room to spare in the Ifor 510.

I checked out loads of trailer internal dimensions and I didn't find any with a higher floor-roof height than the 510.

Also be careful when checking internal length as really you want the stall length, not the whole length as that's where the horse stands.

Have a look at Wessex trailers, they are a small company and may even build you one slightly taller if necessary. I have a treble Wessex and I love it! They also build the Pegasus trailers.

Ifor 510 / 511 will have plenty of room - my 18 hander fits in easily & as he is a shire cross his dimensions aren't small in any direction !
