B*STARDS stole my trailer (yes, have posted in Thefts but am sooo ANGRY had to vent spleen on here as well!) I have had my trailer 9 years and looked after it - it took a lot of hard work waitressing in the evenings to save enough money to buy one and now it has gone. It was insured and yes, it was crook locked and behind locked gates - they cut through all of this. Just so angry that people think they can come and steal stuff that is not theirs and they have not worked for; probably just so some other person can buy a 'hot' trailer. Thank God though that the livery owner did not come back and disturb them and get knocked over. Thank God too it was not the horses that got taken. Have we got this to look forward too? What else can anyone recommend to secure a trailer/property? Does close circuit tv work? Thanks for reading this and every sympathy to all over stolen rug/lorry/trailer person - and if your horse is stolen; just awful and you must think this complaint is so minimal - sorry.

hi,
sorry to hear of your loss. i know how you feel my husbands car was stolen 4 weeks ago (mitsuibushi evo 9 ) someone broke into the house to get the keys ! we have cctv but all you can see is the car going they've gone through the field to get to the house .my husband works hard and eventhough he only used the car once a week he woked hard for it. and i was only gone for 40 mins to take him to play pool and check horses ! if anyone is gonna take anything then no matter how much security you have they'll get it somehow. and the sad thing is if they're caught they'll more than likely to only get a slap on the wrist but if you get caught speeding.....

I had my 4wd and hubby's brand new ifor plant trailer stolen last year. It was 1.30 pm I was at home, friend had just turned up to ride, mum was just leaving after a brew, we walked past the car & trailer (hooked up as they had only been parked up that morning) to the stables just brushing the horses heard the trooper start and whoosh down the drive and off down the road, I ran after it

, but then was glad I wasnt coming out of the house, as I am the sort of person who would jump in front of the car

It was found burnt out later

We had a 510 trailer nicked last year on the Warks border. Like with your theft the tea leaves went to incredible lengths to get it. It had every security device on it known to man, several locked gates etc. They must have arrived mob handed and lifed it on to a flat bed trailer we reckon.

Was it insured? We are with NFU and they were great. The only thing is when we replaced it we kept it somewhere else to avoid the same thing happening again.

Like you I heaved a huge sigh of relief that the horses hadn't been taken. But it does make you sick that you work hard for what you have and some oik thinks they can come along and take what is legitimately yours.

You have my full sympathy, you really do.

Oh I am sorry to hear this...that feeling when you turn up and there is an empty space where your trailer was is totally mortifying. I had this happen to me a couple of years ago at this time of year. My trailer was behind locked gates with four heavy duty locks on and had wheel clamp and hitchlock on. They cut through the locks like butter (left them behind) and to add insult to injury they took my haynet out of the back and left it behind for me AND shut the da*n gate behind them!!! What a cheek!
So we went to the huge expense and inconvienance of widening our house driveway by taking down an entire section of cemented stone wall, moving it wider by a foot and a half and buying new gates to fit! We still have to do all the paving but just cannot afford it. But it means we could park the trailer between our house and garage and block it in with both cars...ridiculous having to go to those lengths but we did not feel we had much choice!

On your new trailer get the roof postcoded with very large letters and any windows etched with the postcode. You can also get a tracker fitted to trailers which allows the stolen trailers movement to be monitored (even more usefull if they steel the horses and tack at the same time).

Hate vibes going out to all theives, hope their bollocks drop off, I know how it feels to have stuff stolen
