Morning people!

I have booked my space on the livery yard in Grantham for Danny, and now all I need to do is find transport from Suffolk to Grantham.

Ideally I'd like a trailer as my Dad has offered to tow the little donkey up and do some work on my house at the same time.

I can't find a trailer hire place in our local area, and I am not sure I am prepared to borrow a trailer from a friend for such a long journey, especially on the A14/A1!

If anyone has any clues or suggestions then please let me know!!

You're down the road from me :) Google Rent Right - it's in Newmarket and I'm sure they have trailers as well as the boxes

I have looked at them, they seem to have a problem with their website. I will give them a call at lunchtime and see what they have available!

I meant to add that the website was down as I looked for the link for you. There used to be another trailer hire in Bury - they did normal trailers but had a couple of Ifor Williams as well. I will try and rack my rusty brain....

pretty sure theres a place out thetford side of downham market that hires out ifor williams trailers. I cant think of the name but u'll find them on the net. Its obviously a bit further out than is ideal but if u get stuck its worth considering!

I think that's Bearts. We used them for our trailer servicing- but I am worried that it's a bit far out to pick up a trailer for hire for 1 day!

I think that is Agrimark- I just heard back from them. They only sell Cheval Liberte trailers- they don't hire them...

Rent Right site now back up and running (always found Sara very approachable & helpful), or there is www.essexhorseboxhire.com (Emma keen horsewoman and aware of what riders are looking for in horsebox hire) or there is www.essexequineselfdrive.co.uk (Kim an absolute star).

I don't have any connection with the above - I've just got to know the owners and their customers over the years through my work.

HTH

Are Rent Right still hiring for non racing self hire - when we wanted to get out TB's to the sales they said they weren't doing self hire any more.

You're right Laafet. They're now only hiring out their boxes to the trainers on a weekly basis apparently. If you want transport, you've got to have their driver too. We wanted to hire for the sales as well. Their bloke said it wasn't economical any longer.

Which is a little bit strange as they said that the trainers were the worst to pay up, whereas us mere mortals always had to pay up front. I did find last year that increasingly the boxes had very little diesel in them as trainers returned them on the red light, which is a little disconcerting when the nearest petrol station is some way away!

Totally agree with you.
