Although i would really love a box I cant really afford one, I have seen some of the older ones but i dont know what i'm looking for, I've got the use of a 4x4 (my boyfriend is getting a new one and said i can have his) so i want to get a trailer but i dont know which is best, i dont have loads of money my budget at the very most is 3-4k, i have two horses but i will only really want to take one of them out so I would be happy with a trailer for one, the only trouble is i have big horses one is 16.2 and one is 17-17.2hh not sure he keeps growing although he seems to of stopped now. So could you advise on good makes and ones to avoid? I have seen an ifor williams that is two or three years old for £2500 is that really cheap meaning there may be something wrong? I have a newer liscence so i think i need to do a trailer test if i am pulling/driving more than 3.5 tons. Thanks

I've got a 2007 ifor 510 and its great. It cost me £3k this summer. There are plenty of places that will service for you and so long as you get some paper work you should be ok.

Just check the floor.. and if possible make sure its an alloy floor... had a near miss with a wooden floor once.. never again!

I have a Wessex Olympian - it is just fantastic!! Really great quality, comfy ride for the horses, lots of space (it is the widest you can get), it's ace! We hired an ifor a few times but one of our mares got v stressed in it as it is a fairly hard ride with rattly bits too. Just didn't suit her as she is a bit of a sensitive flower!
If you have a newer license you will need a trailer test to tow anything with a horse in. Also, worth checking what weight your 4x4 can pull, they aren't all up to towing a horse trailer. This site is really useful for checking http://www.cuddles.abelgratis.net/kerbweights.htm
