So my horsebox is sold and Im on the look out for a trailer. I rang today to cancel my horsebox insurance and just asked if they did trailer insurance. She said yes and they only insure trailers up to £7k and its £300!!!! I was shocked, my wagon fully comp for any driver over 25 only cost £180. I will be ringing around once I get one but just wanted to know how much about people were paying. I was originally hoping to get an Equitrek Show Treka as would love the day living but if its so much to insure I think I will be looking at an Ifor!
Thanks for getting this far :)

If you have a fully comp insurance on your towing vehicle you are covered for 3rd party liability which is what I do now, previously I used seib £100 per annum but I do have a fairly old ifor Williams and very secure parking

Thanks everyone for replying. Its come as a bit of a shock really as I was hoping this would all work out cheaper than keeping a wagon on the road lol. I actually dont think there will be much in it now, after paying aditional car insurance, fuel etc.
I never thought of my horse insurance, I will def give them a ring once I find a trailer.
LovesCobsmas, do you mind me asking what year your Show Treka is please and have you had any issues with it?

I have a show trekka, nine years old, and love it. Insurance is £200 from 4Counties. Need to use a wheel clamp to be covered.

I've got my trailer on my NFU horse insurance as it was by far the cheapest way. I have used Julie Andrews insurance brokers for it on it's own policy which was about £120 but that was a few years ago.

Louby - if you don't mind me asking I'd be really interested to know where you got the any driver over 25 insurance, especially at £180

Anthony Evans, Ive been with them years as they were always the cheapest. The new owner has gone with them too, younger driver and just over £200. Breakdown is on top of this, apparantly its £95 from AE, but I used Equity Star at about £120.
