Well....... I'm gonna be appearing a huge numpty here but hope someone can help!

Have just bought a rather nice little second-hand trailer - it has always been my dream to have own transport, and now it seems to have happened. Will hope to be picking it up this weekend.

re. insurance. What I'd really want is insurance that provides for the circumstance of being stuck with horses miles from home, and needing to get them to somewhere in an emergency.

What do you all do??

Any recommendations??

I'm also with Equine Rescue Services, its £54 (ish) per year I believe. I have the trailer insured separately at about £10 a month.

I'm with Towergate (used to be 4Counties insurance) and they have a trailer insurance policy, which covers theft and accidental damage etc, and they also do a breakdown policy which is what you're asking about. It covers the towing vehicle at all times, and will collect and stable/transport any horses that are being towed in the trailer from anywhere in the country.

I have insurance from Shearwater and breakdown cover via ERS (they do two types for trailers, one that covers car and trailer/horses, even when not towing, and one for just trailer/horses. I have the latter as I have cover for my car via my bank account).
