So, ponies are moving next Saturday and I've just got the trailer back from its service as was unwilling to even attempt trailer training if anything was wrong - overprotective!!

Little one was delivered to me and didn't lead at that point so I believe she was herded into a livestock trailer, to be brought to me so this is her first proper loading really. I had no idea how it would go as she is generally a spooky little pony.

I brought her and Tilly in and then reversed the trailer into position. The minute she spied the trailer moving, she ran to the back of the stable and was shivering a little. I took her out and walked her around the trailer but let her keep her distance from it. At the back of it, I then stood on the ramp and gave her slack in her rope. She crept forward and sniffed the trailer. It took maybe 10 minutes and then she put her hoof on the ramp and whether the noise or feeling, she pulled it back in alarm. After a couple of minutes she tried again, left it a few seconds and then pulled back again. She then did it a third time and left it there so she got a treat.

She did at one point try to move forward, but you could see how scared she was. Her back hoofs were nearly touching the front ones at the bottom of the ramp, as she tried to move forward and just couldn't quite manage.

After 30 minutes she went in, and stood quietly in the trailer although, she was ready to move at the slightest thing. I led her out the front and just as well I was out the way as she leaped off of the top.

I took her back around to do it again. She got her front feet all the way to the top of the ramp happily but couldn't quite move her hinds on, or the fores into the trailer. She got one front one into the trailer and that foot was trembling, and she did go backwards and reverse out but as soon as I asked, she would stand on the ramp with her front feet.

20 minutes and she went in again. This time she walked out with her fronts and jumped the last stride with her hinds.

I gave her a break and put her in the stable as you could see she was tiring. Brought her out and this time it took 10 minutes and the next time not quite 5 minutes. She had one little tizzy where she decided she had had enough and she kept going off to the side of the trailer but because the only place I let her rest was when she was standing on the ramp, she gave up quickly. Other than that, she was really trying to go into the trailer so I'm delighted with this. Also, after the first two attempts, she then walked calmly off the ramp :)

Some pictures although they're not very good, as I was watching her as well.
