Please help......

We saw a lovely trailer on ebay with a starting price of £2600 Ifor williams 505 in red. The ad stated that it was in immaculate condition and was a year old. It was local and looked great and we bid £2755 for it and won. Went to pick it up today and it is lovely, very clean and tidy and obviously very little used although the wheels and some of the screws/nuts/bolts were showing rust indicating that it 'has lived out'. He didnt have any registration docs, I did query this but he said there was nt any and you register it with Ifor Williams etc etc and it was datatagged, I was probably a little niave and gave him my money, got a receipt etc and he seemed very genuine and said if any problems please dont hesitate to contact him etc etc. We have however 1 day later on trying to register it, found out that it is 2 years old. So what do I do? My OH phoned him and said what is he going to do - the options being he comes and gets the trailer and refunds the money or we keep it so my question is how much is a two year old Ifor W 2 years old? Would you send the trailer back ? argghhh I was so pleased but hate being conned! He said he paid £2600 for it a month ago (he is a small time dealer just starting out) and wouldnt give it to us for less than that.

I know it is older than stated but It was still not a bad price IMO.

If he is a dealer, therefore trade you could do somthing under the sale of goods act, but would probaby take a lot of time.

I would say it’s still a good price especially when you compare it to a new one. So I would say get your ned in the trailer and go out and enjoy yourself!

If you were happy with the trailer before, I dont understand why you arent now really! If it is sound, in good condition etc a year makes no difference really!

stick with it. Mine's 10 years old roughly, I've used it for 4 years, had a new alloy floor put in. It's lived out all its life as far as I know and it's not caused any problems. OK, maybe you could have saved a few quid if you'd done a bit more research, but I don't think it's worth getting het up about. I don't think you'd have got it a LOT cheaper for being a year older as they hold their value well.

1 yrs difference lol are you for real ?

god theres some petty people about

You would not have known the age before checking it out, and were perfectly happy with it, so what difference does the year make? Keep it.
There is also a good chance that the Datatagg was put on the trailer at manufacture, but it did not actually get purchased and put on the road for up to twelve months (or even more!) after that date.

I can understand you being annoyed about it being wrongly described but value wise there is little diference between 12 months & 2 years old. You got the trailer for a reasonable price. If you are given a refund & the trailer is taken back you've got to go & search for another.... do you really want to have to do that?. I would just stick with the trailer to be honest.

We are currently looking to buy a 505 and (and I appreciate in your case that, in hindsight this would have benefitted you in this case) before placing a bid on ebay I always ask the seller for the chasis number, ring IW and check that it is not stolen, and the correct age of it. But really, yours being a year older is neither here nor there. I know you are probably fuming with the guy for telling you a porkie, but a year is nothing. As someone else said, just go out and enjoy it and write the extra year off as a learning curve!

Good atttitude - crazypony - NOT! Do you really think a comment like this is constructive? Everyone has helped with useful comments. I was hoping for some kind of valuation for a 2 year old trailer. If something is advertised as something you dont expect it to be something else. I just dont like dishonesty - how many other people would have bid and paid a premium for a nearly new trailer? Thank you everyone else for your reassurances.

your the one with the attitude prob not me lol
everyone else just sugar coating the words
there all saying the same . get over it
