Hello

Last Sunday, I couldn't park my trailer in its usual spot at my house so left it on my mum's drive promising her it would be moved on Monday. However, she lives in a cul-de-sac which has cars parking in it which are left for the day as the drivers work in the nearby shops. There was no way I had enough room to swing the car and trailer out on to the road without wiping out the line of parked cars which were on the road opposite my mum's dropped kerb. The road then fills up in the evening with other cars visiting neighbours in the close. This morning (6.30am) was the first time the road was clear enough for me to move the trailer and its now back with me ready for another outing tomorrow.

In case I have to leave the trailer there again, I thought I would ask if anyone else has this problem and how do you deal with it?

My hubby and I had a similar problem with the rowing club trailer last summer. Got down to the club to hitch up the trailer to head off to Peterborough and there were cars parked all over the lane where the club is. The trailer is fairly big, plus the boats overhang by a fair bit.

I knew to be worried when my normally unflappable hubby said we wouldn't get it out, you have to pull out of the club straight for a fair bit to give the boats space to clear the gate.

In the end we got it out as far as we cold, then unhitched the trailer and moved it by hand, what fun!!!!! Then had to "breathe in" as we went down the lane past the selfishly parked cars!!!

I hate to admit it, but I have a problem parking mine in my yard, as my little space is incredibly awkward and tight to reverse into, and my OH always parks it for me, always making it look effortless. Although I have to stand on his blind side shouting instructions, like ''your OK, we've got 2 inches clear''.

Do you think you would be able to get out, if someone could direct you from the ground? Other than that, if it's just a one off occasion, perhaps put a cone on the pavement to stop a car from parking too close, giving you enough room to be able to get out.
