Trailer Problems

I had a problem with my horse in the past where she would not travel in a forward facing trailer without throwing herself on the floor, i just wondered if anyone had similar problems travelling rear facing? I have heard it happen a lot in front facing trailers but not in rear facing ones?

one of my mares had an accident in an Ifor and everytime we tried to get her travelling in a trailer she would climb the walls or throw herself on the floor.
We bought an Equitrek last year and she travels like a dream in it. No problems what so ever.
Another one of my mares used to sweat up in the Equitrek but I think that was more of her being stressed full stop rather than being in the trailer but weve got her extra vents in the roof and solved her issues and we have no problems now.
All of my horses travel wonderfully in the Equitrek.
Certainly higly recommend the Equitreks (so much so im upgrading mine)

i am just so worried about hurting her again, she travel's perfectly in a lorry herringbone and we go all over the place but would really like a trailer from the financial cost aspects. But last time i paid for a brand new one she just chucked herself on the floor and pulled off half her hoof! It took me a year to get her travelling again and i am very nervous about putting her in one again, but like you, others seem to have problems in trailers but not in the equi-trek, so maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel...!

we ended up selling the trailer and buying a wagon but again for financial reasons we sold it and bought the Equitrek hoping she would travel as we didnt know anyone who could lend us one to try. The problem I had was that mine had a foal at foot when she first travelled in it so she couldve hurt her foal, but she travelled amazingly.
Where abouts do you live as Equitrek do hire them out so you could try her in one before you spend a lot of money on one (they certainly arent cheap but do hold their value better than a lot of traielrs)

My friends mare would chuck herself all over the place in the Ifor.On corners she would throw herself on the floor or try to climb over the partition. She threw such a tantrum in the trailer she put her foot through the floor. My friend had to travel her facing backwards twice to get home from events and she was fine that way.Now my friend has an equi-trek 5* and no more problems what so ever.

Have you tried without the partition? Friends horse did the same, took the partition out and she is fine.

On the Equi trek question, Im having problems with my horse. He will travel in a lorry herringbone fantastically, bought IW and he freaked, mind you it was the 505 and I think it was too small so I bought a large Richardson, loads great but runs out at high speed backwards. So yesterday tried him in an Equitrek and he nearly cracked his head open on the lip of the trailer where the ramp meets the trailer body if you know what I mean. He walked up the ramp no probelms but I couldnt get him to turn before he shot out again backwards and he walloped his head. Did this a couple of times and gave up. Mainly because the trailer owner was getting concerned for her trailer, dont blame her really.
I was suprised at how low the entrance is when you actually walk the horse in. Im gutted, really thought this was the answer to my problems.
