I've put my old girl up for sale. Front and rear loading rice/richardson type.
Someone has come back to me asking what year it was made ect
I other half recons early to mid 90's but can't find anything on the trailer so suggest that. His arguement is before that there was some reverse thing and you had to get out the car to flip a pin (or words to that effect)

I know she's an old bird but can anyone give me any pointers on where to look?

Thanks

I think the last few numbers of the serial number on Ifor williams trailers give the year of manufacture. Maybe it's the same for a Rice. Why not give them a call?

Is it a rice, or a rice-richardson (that helps date it) also what colour was it originally and what are the dimensions?

E.g. The original rice beaufort was built circa 1978, designed for 2 x 16.1hh hunters (6'8ft high) and the most popular colour was a blue/grey...

It looks very similar to our old rice beaufort so it wouldn't surprise me if it was 1980s build...

He's right. Since 1990 ( I think) you've had to have auto reverse on trailers so if you do then probably newer than that.

If it doesn't have a plate on it with the year of manufacture you can probably date it between the start of auto reverse and the need for a plate to have the year it was made on ( I'm sorry, for some reason I can't for the life of me remember when plates became a requirement for trailers! :o )

Ours you could just reverse when you fancied! No switches to be flicked!! It was a late 70's rice....

The fittings look to be exactly the same as our old one. The only difference I can see is the flap at the front has the rice horse shoe on it, ours was lower and there was an overhanging vent there with a wooden cat-flap thing behind to control air intake...

I would say early to mid '80s. what does the inscription on the horse shoe say?
