Has anyone painted their trailer on the outside? How much did it cost? Either professionally or yourself. I have a trailer which is blue, and I mean the WHOLE trailer is blue :o I managed to get some silver paint and done the chassis and wheels, bit I'd like to get it done black to match the car or even just get the top half done white. Any experiences?
 
A couple of tins of gloss, and one of hammerite for the roof - about 40 quid? We did our old one a few years back ourselves. Scraping the old paint off underneath was a bit of a killer, but it was interesting to find out we were restoring it back to its original navy from a lovely shade of turquoise - 'parlour paint' I am told...
 
I've done mine myself a few times. I used B&Q outdoor gloss made up to whatever colour I wanted (had pink, purple, navy, orange & burgandy!) The last time I did it, I also painted the metal roof (Ifor 505) with gold Hammorite. I primed it first as it said but it started to peel & now looks a mess so I wouldn't recommend doing that!

For the main body of the trailer I rollered the paint on first but then ran a brush down it whilst still dry to avoid it looking all bobbly. Cost me about £40 & it looked great (apart from the Hammorite) xx
 
I refurbished an old trailer, I stripped off any old flaking paint & I used car paint to do the job with. I used a gloss roller to apply the paint & a small brush for the intricate bits, taped off the bottom half as I did the roof silver & the bottom half blue. I put a couple of coach stripes along the bottom halr & a couple of horse transfers on as well. There were steel mudguards which I painted black. I cannot remember how much it cost in materials but it really improved the appearance. I'd bought it for £400, reburbished it, used it for 4 years & sold it to the first viewer for £800, so well worth doing.

Just a tip, don't do the painting until the weather gets warmer & the air drier because it will cause a bloom on your paint & it won't look good. :)
 
Fab thanks, I've done the inside which was yellow , and done it a lighter cream colour and the bottom of the sides and things brown. I worry about making an a*se of the outside though! I'm thinking May just get someone to do it as they will have a place undercover for it, whereas, I will start and it will rain all summer and ill have half a painted trailer! Thank you for the tips .
 
I got a trailer painted properly for 50 quid. I supplied the two pack paint. I took it to a paint shop that does large structures. I paid them a visit during their lunch break and did a deal with the lads direct. I reversed it into their building, put it on axle stands and took the wheels off. They grit blasted it, primed with their primer and painted it with my top coat. They then did the four wheels as well for another 20 quid. no rust covered up, top job :)........well chuffed.
