Sunday 11th March 2012 at North Waltham Hampshire about 1950 hours Wessex Clubman horse trailer colour Green and Blue was stolen from a livery yard.
A dark colured 4x4 was seen towing the trailer away.
All horse trailer owners are urged to check on their trailers security. Please warn others of this theft and to be observant of any vehicles seen near livery yards which are not known.
Another yard in Hampshire has reported that a padlock has been damaged in the late afternoon early evening of 12th March. A trailer was present at this address near Winchester.
Remember thieves may drive around days before committing a crime to "sus" out the area, get an idea of peoples movements. Report any sighting of vehicles or people you think are suspicious. It helps to get a registration number and make, model and colour of the vehicle. Any description of suspicious individuals is always welcome. Remember thieves come in all shapes and sizes, male, female young and old.
This is a timely reminder for everyone, make sure that you have a note of your trailer chassis number along with pictures, especially of unique parts, dents etc. Ensure that the trailer is visibly marked by postcode or other unique numbers. Postcodes on roofs are very helpful and difficult to tamper with. Make sure wheel clamps are of good quality and applied to the REAR wheels of the vehicle as this stops suspended towing which can happen if the clamp is on a front wheel. If you can chain the vehicle to something very solid then this too will help.
