Trailer travel - partitions

morning all!

i will hopefully be getting a trailer very soon and i was wondering what most people do when travelling a single horse in their trailer. do you take out the partition? does the horse travel better this way?

Ohh exciting, lots of trips out and about for you then! We have never taken the partition out but i do no people that do, i feel that they use the partition to balance themselves, but then each horse is differnent. You prob know this but if just one horse then always travel them on the right behind the driver.
 
Horses are individuals. My Mare likes to stand across the trailer, so I take the partition out and just have a breast bar. She is much happier that way. She will go it with the partition, but always hesitates to enter the trailer. Without the partition she strides in, confidently.

It suits me better too because sometimes I tack her up in the trailer if it is raining and I would find that difficult if the partition was in. Even though the IFW trailers are very flexible.
 
thanks guys, i guess it does really depend on the horse..

my boy is a v good traveller luckily, i very rarely hear him move in the lorry (which is partitioned like a trailer) but there will be less room in the trailer compared to little lorry so may try it and see..

As others have said it is very dependant on the horse. I tried my mare without the partition - and I'm sure she liked the space, however it became dangerous as she would move around far too much and cause the trailer to sway.
 
As others have said, depends on horse. But if he travels well then I'd normally put him in the right hand side of the partition. I then use the left hand side for useful storage space (ie. a rug box, hay etc.).
