Hi,
I'm hoping someone maybe able to help me - has anyone had to replace thier old style rice trailer tyres?
Mine are in need of replacing and it seems they are currently fitted with 6.00 16" size tyres which are quite old fashioned land rover type tyres which are in quite high demand because of the vinatge land rover enthusiasts. So........Does anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative e.g fitting new wheels altogether from say a scrap yard?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

We have CrossPly's - Dont know if that helps. - they have tubes in them.
We have found that Radials are too wide and rub the mud guards.

Sorry its not very specific - the Trailer man put them on in the service we had a while back.

Hope you find out! :)

p.s. we have a very old school Rice Hunter.

I would think there is an equivalent new size. I can't find my conversion chart atm. I work in the family tyre business and Dad has been 'doing tyres' for over 40 years so is an expert - when he comes back to work I'll ask him.

you can put any 16" tyre on your wheels as long as they have thick enough walls

if you're thinking of changing your wheels, you'd have to make sure that the centres (holes in the middle) are the same or else you'd have to change your hubs too.

Thanks every one for the replies - looks like i've been running at a way too low psi.
Will have a chat with the trailer centre near me and see what they say but the tyres they have online are £60 each -so a set of five is prob more than the trailers worth!

you should be fine with 16" van tyres 205 metric size...maybe get some second hand from a breakers ?? oh and on the presure the big tyres on the old trailers about 40/50psi max,
