Trailer vs lorry - again, with poll!

how old would a horse have to be for you to be concerned about its age and suitability for a hack?

First time I have tried a poll, but anything to help me make my mind up!

Well, I have picked up the trailer that I have been offered, and I can basically swap it for my lorry. I took Marnie out for a drive in the trailer today, and she loaded fine and travelled no problem, didn't move around, kick, bang or sweat up.

Now all I have to do is decide!

The choices are.....trailer with lorry in the background

I do love my lorry, but I am not sure that I can justify the expense of keeping it going for 15 odd pleasure rides a rude, one trip to Devon (from Essex) and the odd trip to the vets. It is getting on now (old A reg) and although looks pretty good from a distance, is starting to age and needs some work. The lorry only takes 2 facing forwards so I am not losing anything there, as the trailer will do the same.

So, what would you do??

Got to be your decision really . I have just changed from a trailer to a lorry and absolutely love it! A bit different though cos i compete every weekend and sometimes take it out through the week. Also i have two horses, one of which wont travel with a partition in the trailer so i could never take two anywhere. If it hadnt been for him and his quirks i would prob have kept a trailer. Lorry is a luxury though and i wouldnt be without it now!

Well for regular users its good to have a lorry. Especially as you can sit and have a cup of coffee and a bacon sarnie when its cold and chucking it down.

However if all you are doing is the odd pleasure ride then go for the trailer. Its the cheaper option in the long run.

I have an old "A" Reg lorry without living. I have to say that I am constantly on edge when mine travel in a trailer and relax when its a lorry.....BUT, oh my, its so expensive with the lorry so now I would seriously think about going for a good trailer. Doe's this help???????????????

There is no doubt that generally a good lorry is better than a good trailer, but unless you use a lorry everyweek it becomes very expensive especially as they get older so in your case I'd swap for the trailer.
