I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem but my 4yr old is currently standing at 16.2 an is more than likely to grow another inch or possibly 2! And I'm desperately trying to find a trailer to carry 2 x 17.2hh's so that I can take him to a couple of shows this summer to get him used the the strange and scary sounds and sights that shows have to offer before we start competing next year! But am struggling...it's not an issue if you want a brand new trailer but the amount of second hand trailers capable of carrying two big horses seem to be few and far between :( . Not sure if anyone else has this problem or if you could recommend somewhere that specializes in second hand trailers who may have something available... any help would be much appreciated :)

Decent 2nd-hand ones are like hen's teeth!

I've had my IW 510 for almost 7 year now, and I'm amazed that I could still get a decent amount for it if I sold it, but won't....!

I'd suggest you keep saving, so that by the time he has reached his full height, you will be able to invest in a new one.

:D

My Ifor 511 is very roomy inside. They are bringing out a 'facelift' version this year so a lot of places are trying to get rid of new (but not the newest version), with some good deals to be had. I had a fair few hundred quid knocked off mine and it is brand spanking new and my 16.2hh, large IDx has plenty of room. Shop around :)

I have a 10 year old Bateson Deauville which will carry two 17.2s but again, I don't see many coming up on the secondhand market, but occasionally they do pop up for sale. Have you tried the usual sites- Preloved, eBay, Adtrader, etc?

I've tried all the usual suspects and I've come to the conclusion that there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the new and second hand trailers! Literally only a couple of hundred pounds difference (saw one that was 7 years old and asked £500 less than a brand new one!! - was an Ivor Williams). Think I may as well cut my losses and get my boy a new one, will be more expensive to buy than he was lol :)

equitrek do 2 sizes of trailer - the M for up to 16.2 or L takes 2 18h - I have the spae trekka M and its great although you do need to check the workmanship on them. If buying a showtrekka L just check the axle is ok as a few had the wrong one fitted. They are v roomy.

I paid 3650 for a second hand one - well wroth it they seem to travel brilliantly in them.

I have an equitrek Space L. I did the research and that has one of the largest horse areas for a trailer (apart from ones designed to take 3, or carriages).

You'll need a big vehicle to tow it!
