We are looking at potentially getting a towing vehicle & trailer in the future & we've never done anything like this, so looking for some idea's to start our search.

I have a 13.3/14hh New Forest pony (so not large) - he'd obviously fit into a single trailer, are there are any significant safety drawbacks to a single trailer over a double?

Ifor Williams are the obvious starting point - any other worth looking at? Or they a much of a much?

Does anyone tow with a car over a 4x4? How do you find it? Or is a 4x4 the only real option.

We aren't looking to tow very far - just to local friends, new hacking places and so on.

Any advice, much appreciated

If you are only going to tow on solid ground then a basic car/estate will be ok as well as being more economical than a 4X4

If restricted by only having a B (no B+E) licence then check out the rules for that in the HHO TOWING CLINIC - link in my signature below

So many tow with single trailers without any safety issues so I cannot see that being a problem but singles tend to demand a higher price these days as many want them for B licence towing

I have a Cheval Liberte single trailer and its fantastic. Horses load and travel in it much better than in one partition of a double.

I have a Bateson and although its the first trailer I've had in years, I like it and I only ever hear good things about them on h&h.
