Rather than hijack someones thread, who has marine ply on floor on trailers and what is your experiance i worry because it looks so thin!I mean how do you really know ?How do you tell ?Can a joiner or what way ?How often does it need replacing i think its so thin to put a horse on it yet its supposed to be the strongest !Any help, pix ?
Thank-you

I had my old trailer floor replaced with marine ply. I was shocked how thin it was, but it is the best wood out there for the job. It has been tested to some ridiculous depth under water for its strength.

I never had a problem with it for the 2 yrs or so I had the trailer before I sold it (and I had people queueing around the corner to buy it!)

You should be using 3/4" marine ply - that ain't thin!! Marine ply refers to the construction and treatment not the thickness. 1/4" marine ply won't do the job!!!

It is thin compared to the old wood floors, which she is probably taking out of the trailer.... They are a good few inches thick!

NO NO NO!! you shouldent be using marine ply for trailer floors it will soon rot... the correct stuff is phenol ply which is inpregnated and coated with resin... and will stand wet and a lot of wear

We used "buffalo board" when the floor was replaced in our trailer. Its quite expensive but I believe it is used in trucks and buses so pretty strong stuff.

What ever wood flooring you use just check it regular as it rots very fast and my old rice farmers hunt had a double floor and must admit we had to replace every couple of years got rid of it in the end.

What make of trailer is it. If its Ifor Williams you can get a ready made alloy floor direct from factory which is very easy to fit. I did mine a couple of years back when the original marine ply rotted, and have never had any probs.
