training fighting dogs

My neighbour had a rhodesian ridgeback when i was younger, who got loose, clambered over the garden wall and killed most of my large flock of chickens one morning, including my large colourful aging cockerel. I was devastated as a kid.

It was a guard-dog type dog, who’d be vicious on my paper-round. The elderly owners couldnt hold it back when they came to the door. They never bred it for fighting, just a dog to bark to alert to visitors in a rural setting.

Equally someone i know who had a husky companion dog, from a pup, domestic setting, went to the lakes hiking with it, and the first thing it did at seeing sheep was run at them and grab one by the neck.

The 30 sheep may have been fighting dog attack, but could easily have been a ‘domestic’ dog on a rampage. Thats some viciousness for just 1 dog though.
We had 2 rotties and an old collie loose near me, they arrived at mine with blood on them. Heard afterwards they’d gone for loads of chickens, and some farmer shot them in the end, as they were always getting loose.

Farmers will be setting up cctv in their fields aswell as yards if these kind of things keep happening. Terrible.

Dogs hunt, there are very few that don't, its where their play drive comes from, border collies when they are working are hunting, it's just a controlled hunt, it could be any dog or dogs that had done this.
It would be highly unlikely that anyone would try to train a fighting dog on sheep, there is not chasing or herding in fighting, its just face to face battle with no escape. Very sad.

Presa Canarios are a banned breed in the UK I'm pretty sure.. not that that's ever stopped anyone having one I suppose. I don't think I would be able to distinguish it from a svelt American Bully in passing.

Couldn't swear to it but I think one of these attacked (possibly killed) a small dog at a popular dog walking spot round here not long ago. Owners were unapologetic, apparently.

This whole thing with fighting dogs makes me so angry. Pit Bulls used to be good with children and not human aggressive. In fact a human aggressive dog was put down because it was believed that they would cur in the ring.
Unfortunately the breed started to attract the wrong sorts and it has gone downhill from there. Dog fighters knew to keep their dogs on chains unless being exercised or "rolled" by having a scrap with another pit of the same age and size.
A former friend had 5 sheep that she kept in a field near the interstate and was more suburban than rural and dogs killed them. The police told her that the dogs ate the sheep but she knew the police were lying and those sheep must have been mutilated.
