training lead.how d`you hold yours?

i walk jim in a gentle leader with a lead rope clipped to both leader and collar together.
sometimes he pulls and just pokes his nose and is strong.

spoke to a doggy person today who suggested a training lead,one end to collar and other end to leader.

went to shop and bought one.there was a choise of two there,one had instructions on the packet but i bought the other one because it felt softer. it has a clip each end and 2 rings along the lenght of it.
so
how would you use it in my situation?
do you thread it through itself via the rings?

i want it to work in the collar but be able to bring the g.leader into use as and when i need it .

I used Herman's going from his Dogmatic and back to his collar. Hopefully this should explain!! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/....449122825457.251711.511365457&type=3&theater . (He's the one on the left of the pic as you look at it.)

We used to find that if Herman pawed at his Dogmatic, it would make his lead slip off, so having it on both made sure that if that happened we'd still have some form of control. I compared it to using 2 reins to my horsey friends.
