I’m dreadful for bumbling around the arena when I go into the school without much of a plan…I have lessons from time to time but wondered if there were any apps or training plans on you tube etc that people use? Ideally a day to day planner or something for 3 times a week etc. I’ve looked at the Ridely app but there doesn’t look like a lot on there for what im after.

It’s specifically for pole work, building flexibility and topline in my boy who is gently coming back into work after ulcer treatment (ongoing for a few more weeks). Ex racer so new-ish to the school. Physio coming next week for a proper plan as such but interested in what is out there.

Just looking for ideas really! Thanks

It might not be feasible but I do find that having lessons really helps to give me something to work on and makes sure I'm focusing on the right area. I also find competing in dressage (appreciate if you're rehabbing then competing wont be possible at the moment) helps to make sure that I'm working on all areas and getting feedback on what is going well or needs work.

In terms of exercises - there's a book called 101 exercises for horse and rider which might be helpful:

I'd agree that having regular lessons is the best way forward. The three of you (horse, trainer and rider) will be able to work out progressive training that suits what is needed at that particular time.

We are always given homework which is a great way to structure sessions between lessons.

The book mentioned above is good as are the books by Jec Ballou - your trainer will know what sort of things will help you, we are all different.

Agreed with the above, but "Rider Guider" is great to stop bumbling around doing nothing. A huge selection of exercises and you make a playlist of the ones you want, and listen while you ride. It talks you through the exercises and common pitfalls to watch out for etc

I like rider guider too, not sure it will do all that you want in terms of polework etc but it’s great for abit of direction on the flat
