My horse will shortly be packing his bags for a spell at my trainers yard which is abroad. Whilst he is away I would really like to get my riding up to scratch so I at least have half a chance of being able to ride one side of him when he comes back. I'm looking for a place which has dressage schoolmasters - does anyone have any personal recommendations? I'm willing to consider decent riding schools and private instructors that may have their own schoolmaster types. I'm based near Farnham and willing to travel for up to an hour. I've heard of Wellington and Lomond and if anyone has experience of riding there I would also love to hear from you :)

What sort is your own horse and at what level? I loved my couple of lessons at Lomond - the horses are fantastically well-schooled and Alex is an encouraging, fun and classical instructor. You will certainly get a good feel for the lateral movements. However as hers are all Iberians they are light to ride and fairly compact. I have PREs myself so it was ideal for me, however if your own horse is a bigger, longer and heavier warmblood I'm not sure you'd be able to transfer the skills you learn at Lomond particularly easily. I'd still say go for a lesson or two though as it's a great experience and you can't beat a well-trained Spanish horse 😊
