Transfer of ownership

Hi everyone, looking for advice as I’ve been stupid!

I have gone over the 30 day transfer of ownership deadline by quite a lot, let’s say years! I have noticed on the form I need to fill in it no longer asks for the previous owner details but it does ask for the date of purchase.

Does anyone know if they call up the previous owners to ask about a change of ownership?
Should I simply edit the date of purchase?

I was always lead to believe as long as I had the passport I was the owner but have recently found out otherwise!!

Many thanks

I would assume you need to check with the specific passport authority in question, but when I registered my horse in my name, his last owners (who had him for 6 years) hadn't even put their names on the passport. The passport authority seemed entirely unbothered by this and didn't check up with them or the first owner (who was in the passport). So they were quite relaxed about it. I would probably phone the passport body and see how things stand, you can always just say "I've made a silly slip up, etc" without telling them your name. Then you can see what they say. I'd be worried that editing the date of purchase by years might come back to bite you later on (I've no idea how but these things seem to happen!).
