Right, following on from my previous thread. We have now worked out it will be 1/2 days Lola will have to be left alone. I have found a dog walker and has the possibility of going to my Mums who works much shorter hours than I will be doing. My other problem is that I don't really want to have to leave her at home in her crate, but when we tried her for 15 minute outing she poo'd everywhere and was very unsettled. She is now a lot better and more secure feeling.. I think! So how do I go about it without getting my house chewed up into pieces? :) All advice greatly appreciated :) xx

Mine get shut in the utility room/ hall way area. Can you dedicate an area?

OR If shes happy in the crate you can leave her there just make sure she has water.
Mine stay in their crate without a problem for half a day 0830-1ish. *puts up armour*

I just started leaving Flodden in the kitchen with Poppy my lurcher, started off with short periods of time and then left it longer and longer. Never any problem at all, but I did always make sure he had his toy, and a bone at first to keep him occupied, and put everything chewable out of reach. He never damaged the wooden units or doors or anything, other than a bill that fell off the kitchen table.

I would not advise phasing the crate out until she is alteast 2 yrs old to be honest but if you wanted to give it a try then you must first go out for short periods, say 10 minutes at first with the crate door left open, if you come home and see no destruction or piddle and ******:p then gradually increase the time until you can eventually leave for an hour with the door left open, if you see destruction or anything else then don't be to hastey to give up with the crate. If you get the results you want then after a good month of gradually leaving her longer and longer with the door open, try and collapse it and leave her bed where the crate once stood.
